Hakomi is a path taken by those who work to go beyond the half remembered hurts and failed beliefs that linger unexamined in the mind and body, hurts that act through barely conscious habits and reactions
~ Ron Kurtz
Refined Hakomi – the Hakomi Method is an experiential psychotherapy. A body-centered approach that combines somatic awareness with experiential techniques to promote psychological growth, healing and transformation. Hakomi holds that the body is one of the royal roads to the unconscious psychological material. Practitioners work with their clients to identify somatic indicators of unconscious beliefs and then bring those indicators into awareness for change. Hakomi holds that somatic indicators including facial expressions, gestures, posture, voice and other bodily expressions provide information about a person's core material. This core material can be described as a collection of memories, emotions, beliefs, and images. I completed 2 of the 3 courses of Refined Hakomi in Ashland, Oregon.
