Thomas Berry, Brian Swimme, Joanna Macy, and Matthew Fox

Discovering the work of Fox, Macy, Berry, and Swimme in my twenties and thirties had a profound influence and launched me onto my deeper path and new areas of inquiry that were not encouraged in the dominant culture.

Bill Plotkin and Animas Valley Institute

Through the work and mentorship of Bill Plotkin, Annie Bloom and Peter Scanlan and other guides at Animas Valley Institute in Durango, Colorado, I felt a profound impact in my life and in turn it catalyzed my commitment to live a life more firmly rooted in soul and guiding others to soul.

Doug completed his 200-hours Yoga Teacher training with Laura Spaulding and other teachers at Yoga East in Louisville, Kentucky. Laura focuses her teaching and practice in Mysore-Style Ashtanga yoga, yoga philosophy, chanting and traditional texts.

Refined Hakomi

Refined Hakomi is Ron Kurtz's evolution of his original Hakomi Method. The refinements were not only the addition of new practices and focus but also the elimination of some practices that Ron believed that the refined method had outgrown.  The Hakomi Method is an experiential body-centered psychotherapy with a somatic treatment approach. Hakomi relies primarily on body cues as the body holds a vast amount of invaluable information. It integrates elements of psychology, science, Gestalt therapy, somatic psychology, psychomotor therapy, Buddhism, Taoism, General Systems Theory and spirituality.  Doug is a student of Refined Hakomi and has completed the first two sections out of three in total.
